You (I think it was Dave) very kindly created the dome on this lantern canopy some time ago but I’m still not content that I have got it right. Looking at the attached photo (which is the best I can provide) there is definitely a concave arc around the bottom of the canopy. I’ve drawn what I think is a close approximation to the line of this arc but I can’t get it to reproduce right around the base of the dome in order to create something that is contiguous; and it needs to be made a solid component, too. Can anyone help here. This damned lantern has been the bane of my life for months now and I would so like to get it to a state that I’m happy to print it etc.
if, so, I used two plugins. one for convenience, the other too.
I used Select Curve by ThomThom to select the whole contour. If you don’t have it, then you need to select all the bits and lines manually.
(it requires TTlib to work)
only problem is, I’m getting holes in the corners because of the “small faces” issue of sketchup. so in order for this method to work, I should have scaled up the whole piece 10 or 100 times beforehand (and simply scale it down after)
Many thanks for this but I don’t think it’s what I am looking for.
Here’s another attempt of mine to explain what I want to achieve: I’ve take the two middle edges of the dome - one along red and the other along green and created the arc that I think should go around the face of the base of the dome and neatly fuse into the dome so creating the line that is apparent to me in the photograph - a convex line from the top downwards and then a shallow concave line down to the top face of the canopy.
Kind regards and many thanks for trying to help me.
