Hi all, maybe a bit of an odd question, but wondering if anybody knows of anything like this… I get a lot of SketchUp models from other people which are FULL of materials. Now a ton of these materials aren’t really being used, but they also won’t purge out. The reason is they’re most likely being used on something absolutely tiny. So when I pull up the square footage of the material it reads ‘0 SF,’ yet it won’t purge them because they are probably technically in use…
Now the question… Is there any sort of extension where I can delete materials below a certain SF (square footage) threshold? Let’s say if a material is below 1 sf in it’s area I can get rid of it, for example. And if not, would that be doable to create? Thanks community!
I don’t know of any extension that will do what you are asking but the first thing I would do is use Material Tools from the Extension Warehouse to remove materials from all of the edges in the model. That might actually solve the issue.
If you know which materials aren’t supposed to be in the model you can also right click on their thumbnails in the Materials panel and delete them.
Yep, forgot to mention that, but this is after components have been purged as well. So these materials are really holding on for dear life.
@DaveR the edges is great advice, I will give that a shot as well. Right clicking and deleting them is what I am trying to avoid as the models I’m working on come in with tons, sadly.
