Hello! I’m trying to add a custom quartz to a file, without repetition, but keep the same relative shape/scale of the veining. Can anyone assist with how to do this? Thank you in advance!
If the surface you are trying to apply the texture to is larger than the area the photograph covers on the material, it will have to repeat or be scaled up. Maybe you can find a texture image from a larger piece of quartz. Maybe you can use the image you have as inspiration for manually creating a larger image in Photoshop or another image editor.
Thank you!
Right-click on the textured face & see if you have a “Texture → Position” menu item.
If yes, click on “Position” (don’t worry, it’s a whole sub-menu, there’s position and other tools too):
And you get 4 pins that let you do all kinds of fun things to the texture:
Just keep in mind that it can’t magically generate new pixels, so if your original texture file is low quality, the stretched one will be even worse.
Try Architextures extension (Architextures for SketchUp User Guide — Architextures) - it lets you generate various surfaces. Can’t upload your own into the free version, but if you’re doing this for work, it’s well worth it to pay for the upgrade.
There are dozens of sites with textures - try…

Eneroth and some others have randomizer plugins as well to help with this.
