5D+ Plus - Automate the creation of Construction Drawings

What do you mean by diagonal sections?

Off axis. Not parallel to X or Y axis.

It would be also important to have the same possibility for structural axis and that the vertical sections would represent them at the correct place when sectioning them.

For buildings that are not fully orthogonal.

you can rotate the Section Plane and Align view to save the scene, or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

PS. Ah, I think labels don’t work with diagonal sections. I haven’t dealt with this kind of diagonal before. Agree with your request

Yup!

And Section Marks should also support diagonal sections. They don’t show up if they are diagonal, I think.

Yes, same same but more specific functions to support for 5D+ Plus ā€˜s scenes. Here is another update UI.

I ā€˜m handling this request for this version.

Excellent!

Another request if I may:

I would like to be able to update all objects created in a scene, without affecting active Tags in that scene. I always destroy how a scene is setup if I hit the update button as I’m always adding and removing tags and keep using Sketchup scene manager to update my scenes, rather than using 5D+ for managing them with preset tag states.

EDIT:

The simpler UI looks great! Very professional and easy to read. Thanks for that too!

A quick update about Bulk Actions, new feature from version 2.0.

Great stuffl! And does it also update all objects in bulk?

(If possible without affecting scenes?)

Yes, indeed. Currently, you can also update the labels in all scenes from the context menu.

It will be possible to modify custom bounds in bulk?

Yeah, sure. No more manual per scene while we had scenes manager.

This is a game changer for me! Much more streamline and precise, instead of pushing for a full redo scene by scene. This way it can better adapt to a more flexible workflow, instead of having to prepare all things in advance and adhere to a preset format all the time. The format might even evolve with the project.

Million thanks!

PS: I would be great that IFC classification by tag would show a list of the tags existing in the model and we could assign an IFC class to the tags as we are building our tag list for a specific project. As it is right now, we have to keep building that mostly manually, based in a file, with preset tags that may or may not fit the current project, so you must predict everything in advance.

It is cool for very streamlined offices where everything as a precise and standard workflow, but it’s difficult for small offices like mine, where the workflow is more flexible and where a project may or may not evolve to really need IFC export.

So, having starting list of tags that we might not even use is over the top on some simpler projects and making sure that tags that have to be created are exactly named as they should is a bit cumbersome.

A mix of both solutions would be excellent to have:

  • Template tags (as today)
  • Easy way to assign IFC classes to a project with every growing tags.
  • Use these new tags to easily update templates.

Update!
Yeah, I did it. @JQL. Now you can load IFC Schema into the extension. This allows you to search and select IFC Classes from a list.

And tags in model also.

You are the best! I’m eager to see this version and how it could streamline the whole workflow.

Do you have a video of how the program takes 2d blueprints and automatically makes the 3d model? That is what I am most interested in.
