Ah, thank you. I’ve marked your post as the solution, but of course this isn’t really a solution to the problem. This is really too bad.

You could switch to the web-based SketchUp Free. The 3D Warehouse window works in that version. Unlike 2017 Make SketchUp Free is supported and getting updates. And like SketchUp Make, it is free for your hobbyist use. BTW, please complete your profile. That information helps us help you.
