I downloaded a few trees from 3d Warehouse and wondered if there was a way to eliminate the black lines.
Thank you!!
Chris
What you are seeing is the edges of the faces that make up the leaves. A leaf texture is applied to the faces and if that’s all you’d like to see, then follow these steps:
- Click into the leaf component (hopefully that are all the same leaf component), and then,
- Triple click to select all of the faces and edges.
- Then, hold shift, and select the faces with the textures to deselect them so all you have is just selected edges.
- Finally, you can either hide the selected edges or put them on a Tag that you can toggle off in your Scene that hopefully gives you what you want. Also play with the texture Opacity to give even more translucency.
Protip: Go find an Extension from ThomThom called Selection Toys for easier selection of geometry.
Bonus: After all this work, save this as a Component in your own library for future use.
Good luck!
Open the Styles Window and create a new style. Using the leftmost icon, the one pertaining to edges, uncheck Edges and Profiles. Update the edited style.
Once that is done, you can also create two Scenes. In one of these, you can set the Style to show everything then update the scene. In the other scene, set the style to hide edges and profile and update the scene. Once that is done. a simple click. on the appropriate scene will switch to required style. You can, f course, rename the scenes to bettre describe their function.
Alternatively, you can also set the rendering mode to Wireframe. This shows only the edges while hiding the faces.
Then select all and then hide.
Go back to previous rendering mode. All those black lines are now hidden.
Try not to assign a tag to edges and faces. Only groups and/or components shall be assigned a tag.
