Hi, after using the Smooth Edges tool for the base of an organic surface, several strange triangular lines appeared on one side of the surface. These lines created a false rough surface effect, as you can see the surface is not completely smooth. Is there any way to fix the surface? Thanks
Hard to tell from just your screenshot but most likelyou can fix it by creating at least part of the mesh differently.
What version of SketchUp are you working with? There’s no Classic livcense for SketchUp 2023. What tools did you use to create the mesh?
Sharing a screenshot like that is like taking a photo of my body and send it to the doctor asking him a diagnosis. Could you at least share a screenshot showing how’s the mesh or even better sharing the file?
Here is a video to explain it in detail. As you can see, the shape is not smooth and there are some flat areas on one side. Is there another way to make the organic shape for a better result?
hello / bonjour
the object you’re intersecting your shape with is not very detailed and made out of circles with only few edges (I guess 24, the default number of edges when creating a circle), no wonder you end up with visible triangles / faces
Use a higher value, type it after picking the circle tool before creating it, or by selecting an already created circle and changing number of segments in the entity info panel.
I see you also have artisan, learn how to use it and work with subdivisions for smoother results
One thing to know, if before you did the push pull action you had double-clicked on the flat face, you can choose Weld Edges. Then when you push pull you won’t get those extra visible edges around the side.
I tried using detailed circles but this did not solve the problem. Either Artisan is not accurate enough for this shape or I need to change the way I build the shape completely. Artisan created too many lines for the organic shape.
uhhh
what’s the point of this shape ? what is it for?
depending on the use, we might have a different solution
This method is also interesting, unfortunately I need a very precise shape made inside a circle. Your method makes it easy to use sudD, but in my case the organic shape creates too many cut lines to use it.
I have tried welding edges without success
