Why discontinue a feature when the new version still have issues?

So yesterday i tried to use the latest version SUP24 for our work, but once again it was buggy, had issues, didnt work properly, etc, enz, in other words it was not usable.
So i was “forced” to go back to the older, properly working, version SUP22 (since sup23 also had/has/have issues).
But now i see they want to discontinue the add location for this version?!

So please, please and once again please, do not discontinue these features for this version untill the latets version(s) work without issues?

Also, and yet again, i had to login to start SUP22, so far so good.
So i tried to add a location, and yet again i needed to login (no other versions open nor switching inbetween versions this time)

Is it so hard for SUP to remember i just logged in, not to log in again, but to start modelling?
I thought the ‘P’ in ‘SUP’ stands for Pro, like proffesional, one would almost think i have an amateur version

Hi @AnnoNiem, thanks for the post. While we would love to have the budget and staff to dedicate to maintaining additional versions of our software, we currently do not have what we need to do that. We do our best to maintain as many features and versions as we can for as long as possible but web infrastructure that is relied on for some features like add location and 3DWH require constant updates to comply with different legislation and to meet our own company safety standards.

What all that means is that we can’t keep everything in old versions going forever. I really wish we could though as I know a lot of people rely on older versions for extension compatibility and stability. I myself still have a Windows XP machine in my closet that I break out from time to time for those exact reasons so I totally get where you are coming from.

Now in terms of stability, I have to ask, are you getting bugsplat errors and if so, are you submitting them to us? If so, I am happy to ping the team that has access to the bugsplat server and see if we can find what the cause of your crash is. Maybe we can find a way to improve the stability of 2024 for your workflow.

I understand what you mean, but at least make sure that those functions work well in the new version?!

Yes, some issues i have reported (on the forum), other issues where already pointed out by other users. Often the answer/workaround would be “use older version of SUP in which those functions still work” :exploding_head:

Next week i will get back to you about them issues with basic functions, not sure about the bugsplat errors.

Do hope one day i can use just one instance of the program so i do not have to re-login after each command/program switch

I look forward to getting the info from you so we can take a look at the bugsplats. I hope we can find a way to improve stability for you,
