Hi, where do i get realistic rugs/carpet for sketchup? The rugs on 3d warehous doesnt seem realistic
What’s not realistic enough about them? Where are you viewing them to determine realism?
You could make your own. I made this rug in SketchUp using Clothworks.
Realism = High Poly. Most rug modelers don’t model the individual piles or fibers. For comparison, if you use V-Ray, they have a ‘Fur’ tool, that can generate that texture and geometry only at render time, thus keeping the model light and performant.
Ex - compare how it appears in SU vs V-Ray:
Edit: You can try other sources for models, Like Fab. Keep in mind the tradeoff I just mentioned. Here is a rug with fibers modeled as meshes - over 1mil polys and 80+mb file!
@eric-s is that fur taking on the color / pattern of what I assume is the material applied to the geometry that the fur is attached to? If yes, I need to learn this…
Yes. By default, V-Ray Fur pulls the underlying texture up into the geometry. You can override this if you want. Which is cool if you have multiple rugs, you don’t have to reset them all up individually:
Testing it now. Thanks. I would not need it for rugs… but for exterior / landscape stuff.
