In the SketchUp for Schools curriculum there is an “Intro
SketchUp for Schools 3D Printing Guide” with YouTube video and Google Slides Instructions. However the video is only a minute and half long and suggests there are other videos to follow explaining all the steps to 3D printing. Where are those videos?
Have you tried searching on YouTube with 3D printing with sketchup?
Yep. I don’t get any hits for SketchUp for School. I’ve searched YouTube long and hard for these videos specific to SketchUp for Schools. Other sketchup platforms don’t apply.
Why not? The tools all work the same way.
Is there any specific information you’re hoping to find regarding SketchUp and 3D printing?
I am also curious as to what you are looking for specifically. SketchUp for Schools has a massive amount of crossover with other version. If you are looking for something extremely obscure and can’t find it, you are always welcome to ask us about it. I promise we will do our best to hep you out!
SketchUp for Schools tutorial videos are unlisted YouTube videos found on the SU for Schools main page.
The video, I believe in question is this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cFqqJ3TjTQ. I can see where the OP is confused as the video mentions ‘making the model watertight’ and learning solid tools. It also ends by saying ‘we’re going to show you how to do it.’ - giving the impression that this is the first in a series.
@mrquinlan - This video might be assumed to be the next in the series as it covers making sure your model is solid, scaled properly, and exported as an STL (ie 3D printer-friendly format).
What else do you need to know?
Yes, thanks, that does appear to be the next video in the series. Also, in the SketchUp for Schools Curriculum there are instructions for creating the SketchUp logo and making it 3D printable, but no accompanying video. This is found in the Intro
SketchUp for Schools 3D Printing Guide. It’s labeled as a beginner project. The next project in the guide, labeled intermediate, is the Name Tag tutorial. This also exists as a separate lesson, as does the third and final project in the guide, the Custom Castle. A little disjointed in the curriculum but it will do. Thanks.
