Lately, I’ve been doing some research on 3D programs and game engines. So far, I discovered a couple new programs I like, such as Sculptris. I’m still trying to discover some easy-to-learn programs for game design, but haven’t had any luck. Any help would be appreciated. Aside from that, what are your favorite 3D programs?
All the way Blender! Perfect replacement for 3Ds Max/Maya. It’s free and being developed frequently.
Blender is the free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.
You can also sculpt, paint textures within it and make use of variety of addons.
Additionally program is just 300~ MB and launches like lightning.
I feel like Blender is similar to QWOP because they give me so many controls that I can’t control what’s going on.
Imagine how much harder QWOP would be if they added more controls, such as:
QW = Thighs
ER = Feet
UI = Forearm
OP = Calves
VB = Biceps
There should be a program that makes it easy for people to make video games… I think I’d be content if SketchUp designed a game engine.
Blender is the best, it also contains a sculpting suite, rigging, mapping, a GPU render engine and also node material editing. It’s also linked with Unity for game work.
Unreal engine is great for walking around some of the models you have made in VR, the Unreal Engine plugin for SketchUP called Twinmotion looks great but just a but out of my budget.
This year I am learning some more industrial design packages such as Autodesk Alias and Dassault Catia but they look very different from a lot of things I have used in the past.
