Hi, I’m Eric, new to the community and the software, been puttering around with it for about 3 weeks now.
I work in the Commercial HVAC/R industry as a Field Superisor and new technician trainer.
I’m using Sketchup to layout the design for my home remodel.
I choose Sketchup for it’s ease of use, I’m sure there is a lot more to this software that I haven’t even discovered yet, but for a beginner the learning curve seem pretty short.
I went through the online tutorials and was able to layout my kitchen setup fairly well, in my opinion. you can find it in the warehouse under EPC Home Remodel if you are curious or bored.
I’m running 2019 Pro on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Processor 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Memory32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
GraphicsAMD Radeon R9 M390 2 GB
Mac seems to run this software very smoothly, now if only apple would add a middle click to the trackpad.
Hi, I am Bjorn from Norway, 68 years old and started using SkethcUp this spring. My background is MSc ISM and have been working as an IT consultant and programmer my whole life. Now as a retired old man I want to develop my area for summer houses on an island in the middle of Norway. You can see it here: www.orneriket.no. To do that I need a program like this and I tried to use it and find it very interesting and og good quality. Now I am drawing houses and the builders are starting with the first summer house right by the sealine. But I have to say I am just a beginner and full of questions. I have not gone to any 3DBasecamp yet, I do not know what it is eighter
My setup is a windows computer with an Intel i7-4930K CPU, 16Gb RAM, 64bit, Windows7-Pro, NVIDIA Quadro410, 512Gb SSD, 3x SCSI DiskDrives up to 10 TB.
I don’t have a 3D Warehouse yet.
My name is Michael. I am a chemist professionally and using Sketchup for model railroading. I like Sketchup’s ease of use, and that it is intuitive. I am an intermediate user, and hope to become advanced. I have not gone to Sketchup 3DBasecamp, and need to find out how to sign up. I have a Mac and Sketchup 2019. I do not have warehouse page or a website to list - I’ve been meaning to make one, as I’m having a lot of fun with my modeling.
I am modeling part of Chicago along the Chicago river in the 1950’s in N-scale (1:160) - the railroad is the Chicago and North Western and the railroad line was called the “Low Line”. I am using Sketchup and a Prusa i3 MK3 3d printer to design and print the buildings. I am mostly using PLA as the build material.
Welcome! Cool application for SketchUp. My son and I are in the process of working up a very small N-scale layout and plan to do some 3D printed stuff along with possibly some card stock models using SketchUp.
Thanks. I’ll look at that. I haven’t purchased a printer yet. I’ve got access to one through the local First robotics team but I disremember what it is right now.
I work in renewable energy specifically solar.
I use Sketchup professionally to design solar fields.
I like how powerful the program is and how easy it is to learn.
I am bordering on the intermediate level of proficiency.
I have not gone to 3D base camp nor do I have a 3D warehouse of stuff.
I do not get into the emoji stuff, not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my thing.
Hi My name is Neil
I use Sketchup regularly to model, home improvements, extensions, and most recently to design a community shop inside a church. I am also involved in solar photovoltaic installations
I have become moderately proficient with Sketchup - but am always happy to learn more
click the circled icon to turn them on and off. All models will generate shadows when they are turned on. Also next time try creating a new topic with your question so it doesn’t get lost in here. Good luck!
Hi. I’ve been drawing house plans since I was 11. 40 years later I’m finally going to be able to build my own design! I thought I’d try my hand at a 3D computer version. I’ve learned a lot but all my files disappeared. Since I have the free version I can’t go to customer support (unless I’m missing something) so I’m here!
Suggestions on where to go next? I’m looking forward to the community knowhow here.

Anything else you would like to tell us? I ran into timelapsing with creating skectup models and that ended up in being a pro-timelapse photographer/videographer with gear that nothing had to do with sketchup. I selftought this all and i now make my money on the photographing part mostly. Sketchup is running a bit a behind here thanks to family and busy life. My nickname on YouTube is Massygo so if you see me in chat just read that nickname mirrored.

I’m Serge, new to Sketch-up and to this type of software. I’m thinking of becoming a furniture designer, sketch-up was recommended. I don’t know what sketch can do, but will to learn. I’ve set an hour a day to learn. Hopefully this is enough time to make fairly swift progress…
My personal computer is a Mac pro but I’m often on a PC.

I’m thomas. I design retail fixtures and structures for shopping centers and airports. I use Solidworks and Rhino. I am exploring Sketchup because many of my colleagues use it. Also, my daughter who is a third year at university is interested too. I just downloaded Sketchup so I know nothing!
If someone can tell me the minimum OS hardware requirements, I’d be grateful.
Thanks very much Mike. FYI, I loaded that link in Edge and Firefox. It doesn’t display properly. Also, the link shows versions of unsupported MAC OS versions, but does not provide recommended ram, processor type/speed, or graphics card. Those are specs I’m used to seeing from vendors of Solidworks, or Rhino.
My guess is that the program will run on my daughter’s 2014 MacBook, but the proof will be in the pudding as they say. I loaded the 30 day trial on my laptop and it runs fine, but it’s a pretty powerful cad workstation.
