Something doesn’t quite add up in my eyes: Does the front edge of the sides actually touch the ground? (I presume it does - but that cut-out on the sides must taper, but it looks parallel… probably an optical illusion.)

No. Generally when a thing is called a wall cabinet, that implies it hangs on the wall.
