Unable to manually enter in dimensions in Lay Out

Hello all - I am newer to SketchUp and am using it for Interior Design. I’m using LayOut to build a 2D draft and have set it up to be an architectural scaled drawing but am unable to manually type in the dimensions like I can in SketchUp. I’ve read through the comments and unfortunately none of the recommended fixes worked for me. Its worth noting that I’m on a Mac but I didn’t think that was the issue since this feature works just fine in SketchUp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,
Lauren

It would help if you would share your LO file so we can see what you are working with.

Are you trying to edit dimensions you’ve added with the Dimension tool? Or is this when you are drawing lines in LayOut?

Thank you for the swift response!! I’m building out an aerial view of a room and need to be able to enter the correct dimensions in for the footprint of the space so I can draw in properly sized furniture. Since I’m running into this issue, I dont really have much to share yet but can mock something up to give you an idea if needed.

OK so it’s entering lengths while drawing the footprint. The correct steps would be to start a Scaled Drawing and set the desired scale. Then get the Line tool and start drawing. Click and release to set the first point. Move the cursor in the desired direction. Let go of the mouse, type the desired length and press Enter/Return. Move the cursor in the required direction for the next line. Let go of the mouse, type the distance, press Enter/Return. Rinse and repeat until you get back to the beginning. No need to click the left mouse button again until you want to manually place an endpoint or finalize the drawing. As in SketchUp there is never any need to click in the Measurements window.

Thank you so much @DaveR !! I have the scaled drawing set up and have tried doing what you suggest and keying in the dimensions the same way that I do in Sketchup, however that isn’t working in LayOut. It almost seems like there is some sort of setting that I need to adjust.

What are you typing when you enter the distances? Can you do a screen recording similar to mine?

I ended up having to restart it and it is working now as you initially suggested so I’m all set. Really appreciate the patience and guidance!!
