The Price is driving users to other products

I have used SU for a very, very long time. This year will be my last. I have just had to pay £378 for a product that is going backwards. You have done nothing to improve the basic modelling functionality in years, - oh wait FLIP was added. Consequently, the cost is not £378 but £378 plus the cost of all the many paid extensions that I cannot model without because the core functionality isn’t good enough and don’t get me started on Layout.

You are driving users to other products with your insane, unjustified price increases. I am part of a forum for garden designers. A lot of us use SU. We are not huge companies. In the last discussion about SU, a lot of designers are beginning to look at other products.

What other products are they using?

I have gotten into trouble on this forum before for mentioning other products. You will have to email me.

I love SU. As I said, I have used it for a very long time and it will cost me timewise to learn a new product but in the last two years the price has increased massively for very little useful functionality.

I see. I only ask as I feel the cost of Sketchup is pretty reasonable in comparison to other software. im paying over £1000 just for rendering software.

I agree some more progress could have been made in providing minor functional tools. But I think big changes have been made to other aspects of the product that if you don’t use you dont see the benefit.

okay. farewell, see you around then.

From who?

Name the products. People talk about Fusion, Blender, formZ, Rhino, AutoCad and others all the time. Some folks even show alternate ways to get something done using other software combined with SKP.

I’m curious what you will use and what benefits you will find from it.

Post it, otherwise I’ll assume this is just whinging.
