I am very very new to Sketchup, but run into a challenge creating tags. I com from Revit and there they are called tags, in Sketchup it is different I noticed… This is what I want to do: I would like to add leaders with text next to my objects (components) with text that comes from the attributes that I can create for each Component, e.g. like: Name, Model Code and Supplier.
How can I create these automated text field? or is there a plugin that can do that for me?
There are some attributes you can add to components with the Description field as well as some other fields you can see in Entity Info when you have a component selected. You can also give components any sort of attributes you want using the Dynamic Component feature. This can be things like dimensions, materials, supplier name, etc. Then in LayOut you can create labels that use those attributes as auto text to anchor to the model. No need for a plugin.
As a simple example, all of the labels shown here are auto text using the text in the component descriptions field. None of this text was typed in LayOut. I did use an extension to create most of the description text including dimensions in SketchUp.
Thanks! That helps me a lot.
I got it working for 1 attribute of a component. Is it possible to have multiple Attribute fields in a label?
Got it!!, First try and then ask… GREAT!
