Would SketchUp run OK on an i5 iMac with an AMD Radeon Pro 5700?
Completely hypothetical for me at this point but I want to know whether I should take the thought into action. And I’m not doing it if it can’t run SU.

Put it like this: SU was running very acceptably for me up to SU2020 on a 2012 iMac. So an i5 should be no sweat.

I upgraded my iMac late last year, not to cope with the demands of SU but to enable me to learn to use renderers, which are much more power hungry. But it did noticeably speed up SU. It didn’t noticeably speed up LO (and no hardware spec is likely to do that at present) but it did cure some tendency to crash.

I have a five and a half year old (late 2015) iMac 27” 5K with i5 processor and AMD Radeon R9 395 GPU, 24GB Ram.
It works fine for all but one humongous 800MB model which was authored on a similar iMac but with a faster i7 processor.
Mine works fine for everything else.
