I’ve been building in SketchUp for years, and one thing always frustrated me: there’s no good way to model a reinforced concrete frame — the type of structure that dominates construction across Asia, the Middle East, and much of Europe and South America. Medeek’s tools are fantastic, but they’re built around North American wood framing. For the rest of us designing with concrete columns, beams, and slabs, we’ve been doing everything manually.
So I built Structural Concept Studio — an extension that generates a complete RC structural system directly inside SketchUp.
What it does:
Foundation — generate footings at column grid points
Columns — place and size columns per floor
Beams — run beams between columns with section control
Slabs — fill floor areas automatically
Per-floor settings — configure each floor independently (height, section sizes)
Point editing — move or adjust any individual element after generation
2D + 3D preview — see your structural layout before committing
Who it’s for:
Architects and designers doing early-stage structural — placing your column grid, sizing beams, understanding floor-to-floor heights — before handing off to a structural engineer. It won’t replace structural analysis software, but it lets you design with structural logic from day one.
