Square Looks Like a Diamond on the Blue Axis – Why?

Hi everyone,

I’m having a weird issue on the iPad version of SketchUp. When I draw a square along the blue axis, it ends up looking like a diamond instead of a square. But if I reference a line (instead of a guideline), it goes back to looking like a normal square.

Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

Thanks!

I don’t know how it would be done on iPad - but on desktop I would tell you to reset the axis.

Hi Mike I managed to figure it out I was wasn’t able to locate the axis tool but I just used the search tool and found it that way, then managed to reset the axis.

There is no ‘axis tool’ - on desktop you can position where you need, then reset it as needed. I assume it is similar on iPad with different mechanics.

Edit: after 20 years of SKP I learned there is an ‘axis tool’.

Not quite sure what you mean by this. There is a quite useful axes tool.

Well, after 20 years of using SKP I learned something new. I always go to the axis and right click… I thought it was all context menu driven.

Thanks it was hidden in the more tools way down at the bottom.

…and for anyone else who needs a picture instead of words, it’s here:

I have to admit, I didn’t know how on iPad till you asked.
