Some triangles not included in a smoothed surface

Hi there,

I’m still trying to model a boat hull. From the waterlines, I created guides with Curvizard and then model the mesh using all created control points. I then obtain a surface that I can smooth.

For whatever reason, some triangles are excluded from the resulting surface as you can see in the attached SU file.

I went here and didn’t found a solution. When I activate “Hidden Geometry” we can see those triangles aren’t smoothed as the others. If I use the eraser with option modifier, then change aspect but still remain outside the generated surface.

I checked the inference (meaning ensuring the point are perfectly positionned) and, at least with my knowledge of sketchup, it seems ok…

Any clue on what may happen ?

Erase and redraw those triangles, then smoothing will work.

I know this is not an answer to the question why this happened but it’s at least a quick and easy fix. :man_shrugging:t2:

How did you create that surface? There are two overlapping faces at those locations.

You only need to delete one of those faces and then the edges can be softened. No need to redraw anything.

Hi Dave,

Yes, I just understood the point. The quad where coplanar so when I draw the transversal line to create 2 triangles, a new surface was created…

For the last triangle, 2 faces as you discovered. I will look at the number of selected entities from now on. It is cleaned up ! Thanks !
