Hi all,
I’ve been a SketchUp user for years, and usually pride myself on being able to trouble shoot most issues I encounter. However, this one has me stumped.
I’ve made a quick wall of siding by making a single board into a component and copying it along the face of the wall. I needed to punch some windows through the siding, so I made a generic block the size of the windows and grouped it. There are three windows per floor, so I need to cut the siding three times. Cutting out the first window works no problem. Now, when I tried to trim the siding component with the second window block, the siding component gets completely displaced - it rotates some odd angle, and gets moved down several feet. What is going on here?
I originally thought it had something to do with the axes of the components, but there’s nothing abnormal going on there…
I’ve attached an image of what it looks like after trying to trim. (note: I just ended up manually editing the geometry by drawing, copying, and erasing lines to get the same effect, but it happened again while trying to trim edges off, which is where the following images are from - yes, I know I can just push/pull the siding to solve this part, but I’m curious about what’s going wrong with trim
Look at how far it moved!:
Thanks in advance,
Let me know if you need any more information.
