SketchUp Viewer Android App needs support for Android 11+. This is a request following a trouble ticket (case 10762327) which I have included the details below.
Original bug details:
"Cannot open any models saved after Autumn 2024.
I regularly create/update SketchUp models on my PC and typically download
them via Trimble Connect to my Samsung phone & tablet to view in the
SketchUp Viewer mobile app (for Android). Recently, whenever I download an
updated SketchUp file or a newly created one, it will not open in the
SketchUp Viewer app. It pops up and error message saying “There was an
error opening this file, Please re-download this model and try again.” (see
attached screenshot).
My older models or models I have not updated recently still open without
issue, so there seems to be a serious compatibility issue between the
current version of the SketchUp (free web version) and the SketchUp Viewer
app for Android.
Before anyone asks, I have tried deleting the older files, and
re-downloading them, uninstalling and reinstalling the SketchUp Viewer app,
and resigning into the Web app and Trimble Connect account. I have
exhausted all end-user troubleshooting. This is most certainly a
compatibility issue caused by a recent update to either the SketchUp web
app or the SketchUp Viewer Android app. As it stands right now, the
SketchUp Viewer app for Android is unusable for any new SketchUp files, and
I have seen many similar threads online reporting this issue to Trimble.
This is a live version issue affecting all users of the Android app and it
needs to be resolved or Trimble will have killed their Android user-base.
