It’s not that simple. The subscription model, as it was conceived, is purely financial disconnected from the product itself. The perverse effects are numerous: price increases (doubling or tripling) and even unlimited increases, since there is customer dependence. This system also allows to no longer depend on customers for development. Therefore, the problem isn’t passing the price on to the customer, but rather the question of investing time and resources in this software.

Well yes that’s a more long-term issue, and an important one. I was just offering a suggestion about how Dave might avoid canceling his Sketchup subscription this year. But I’m going through the same thing with Enscape right now… they increased the subscription to $670/year and although I barely use it anymore thanks to AI, I still need it sometimes. So I get it and agree it’s a problem.
