SketchUp 2026 Subscription Renewal

I have some silly questions about my subscription:

  1. If I do not renew my subscription (which is coming due), can I still continue to use my 2026 version?
  2. If I decide to not continue the subscription, how do I stop it?

I know these are silly questions, but I am now in my 80’s and no longer have a “sponsor” so the cost is beyond what I can/want to pay. Although I really like the product and think it is very good, it is just out of my budge these days. Everything I do not is “just for fun” and the free/cheap versions do not support extensions (which I feel are really necessary", even for relatively sinple modelling.

No. When your subscription ends you cannot use SketchUp 2026. It’s kind of like if you quit paying your electricity bill and they shut off the power.

Unless you set it up to automatically renew, ignoring the messages telling you the subscription needs to be renewed, it should just quit. You can go into your account and check to see if it is set to auto renew. If it is, you should be able to change that.

Thanks for the reply Dave. This is a little sad. I may have to quit using it because the price is too high for my use without the ability to include extensions. I will have to do something like this “soul searching” as a hobbyist that has zero income from using it.

Hobbies are interesting. I don’t make money from my photography or paragliding but I still buy and use the gear for it.

Good luck.

I’m sure that there is a museum somewhere in North Texas that would like to sponsor your subscription to model things for displaying there. Of course you would also have to make whatever you model. You could show your models here in the forum like @mmarcovitch does and others of us could enjoy them, too. BTW I model alot of things without extensions at Models by Royce - SketchUp / Gallery - SketchUp Community.

Does the Go version allow you to use extensions?

No. With a Go subscription you get to use either SketchUp for iPad or a browser based version that has more features than the free browser version but no extensions.

Thanks @DaveR , I should have looked that up before I responded. Guess I have a big decision to make.

you could also consider the old sketchup 2017 make + plugins.
it depends on what you do with sketchup, there are plugins to open / convert more modern files to 2017 format.

How to I cancel the automatic renewal?

OK, I think I finally found the right place to change this setting.

Here is what the page looks like now:

If this is not correct, please let me know. I also wonder what will happen/will I see when it is time to renew the subscription.

I wish they still had the Classic license option.

Thanks, I think I got it done (I sure hope ).

Recently I was googling SketchUp cause it called my eyes that now on the Google page it says create models using AI on SketchUp, I just down scrolled and saw two websites where you can download SketchUp make 2017, it was the las free version that allowed you to install most of the plugins, some “native” plugins like Dynamic Components won’t work, I won’t paste the website cause some time ago I recommend someone to use way back machine and posted the link to way back machine website, not even to the SketchUp 2017 web site and a female moderator flagged my post and sent me an inbox asking me to stop SELLING illegal licenses, after laughing for a couple minutes I removed the link to way back machine. Any ways you could receive an SketchUp make installer on your inbox, for free, miracles can happen.

no, regular users flagged your post, and a moderator - no need to specify gender here is there ? automatically contacted you.
when your message gets taken down due to flags, you get an automated message.
as you’re fairly new on this forum, it’s more likely to happen.

great phrasing. you still don’t see why people might think you’re trying to sell licences do you ?

also, I mentioned Sketchup make 2017 3 days ago.

Well this was with my other account that I deleted in November, I don’t remember if my post was flagged but I do remember that a moderator, not the bot, she’s done a great job as a moderator but in my case I think it was a bit overreaction, probably because on another thread that got political I made some comments on defense of western civilizations and the morals it was founded on, it was an small interaction, I didn’t insult anyone or implied anything that could be considered as hate, and I received an inbox from the same person telling me that no hate speech is going to be tolerated, I apologized and deleted my comment, since then I haven’t participated in any political off topic.

It’s illegal to sell SketchUp make licenses, I’ve never done and never will, also SketchUp make is free but I mentioned a few other times that the Go version should be like the old make version, a desktop version with the ability to install plugins only lacking of layout. The OP said he’s workflow requires extensions and at 80 years old it could be hard to try to model everything using just native tools on the web version.

Why not just find one paying 3D modeling job per year and charge the client the price of the annual Sketchup fee? You could ask your friends or relatives if there is anything they would like to see in 3D… maybe they’re doing a remodel or landscaping project, or would like to redesign a room in their house or play around with furniture layouts. OR, what if instead of buying people gifts all year, you offer them the gift of creating a Sketchup model for anything they’d like. There are a lot of creative ways you could cover the cost if the hobby means that much to you!

When was YOUR last “3D paying job”…may I ask?

For me, it has been at least 3 1/2 years. That is why the $399 is to much (to me). Again, I wish they still had the Classic license. To me, it was far more reasonably priced.
