hello,
[Style Builder](https://help.sketchup.com/en/release-notes/sketchup-desktop-20250#style builder) – The Style Builder application is no longer included in SketchUp and will no longer be supported.
Exactly, I have 2024 version and now updating to 2025 I want to uninstall style builder as it is no longer supported.
If you want to remove it, you’ll have to uninstall sketchup 2024, it’s a whole package (along with layout) same installer for the three of them. But I don’t see the need of removing it ? You’d better keep your 2024 version installed for now if you run into issues with the new one, just in case.
I just installed the latest version of sketchup 2025 and I am happy that my favorite export animation function seems to be working again.
However after migrating older extensions from sup22 to sup25 the program crashes every time I start the program and select a template.
After manually moving those extensions to a separate folder (outside of the SketchUp folders) using my totalcmd it seems to work again.
I will now try to move them back one by one to find out which one is causing the problem. Or I will redownload them all in the hope that the latest versions will work in sketchup 2025.
I hope this warns/helps those with the same problem
Going from 2022 to 2025 is a big jump, including a new version of Ruby that can affect extensions. Reinstalling them is the smart course unless you like spending time chasing bugs that have been fixed.
But the jump is still smaller than from SketchUp 14, the oldest version to migrate from?
And yes, installing the latest version from their original websites would be wiser. I’ve had enough of the troubleshooting and work-a-rounds since sup23. But only found that out after migrating
Has it been checked for compatibility with latest Mac OS or should I wait for next release. Super excited to try it out!
It works fine on macOS 15, including the latest 15.4
I can set them but they don’t work, it sounds like a bell when I hit those shortcuts.
Are we able to “hide” the background HDRI environment map so it’s just a white or alpha mask background, but keep the lighting effect?
I think you’re not using the right tool for your needs, it’s not smart at all to waste money on a program that is 10 years behind any other CAD software. Fortunately there are dozens of programs, if you want sketchup to behave like AutoCAD, you’re going to be disappointed forever. Just quit your subscription and invest on AutoCAD, you’ll need a couple more hundreds for the license but at least you’ll be happy with their primitive 3D workflow.
yes. Go to the edit tab and untick “use environment as Skydome” and tick “use Environment for reflections”
Yep! You can use Environments for the sky dome, lighting, or both!
Pretty fun just exploring the new materials. The bells and whistles are shiny, but appreciate the quality of life improvements too.
How is the RoundCorner integration?
Do our users still need to rely on external RoundCorner plugins?
Do we have any info on Enscape support ? checking here first , will also be checking with Enscape.
Download and try. 2024 stays installed along with all of your plugins.
I have to disagree. I started with AutoCAD years ago. I use SketchUp because, for the price, it’s great for what I do. There are many out there who do what I do, and there’s no reason whatsoever for SketchUp not to have the basics. If you disagree with that, give me some specifics.
I can confirm, their current preview build supports 2025.
Some of the requests you’re making can be solved with plug-ins.
Layout is a powerful tool for a lot of people, and I don’t find it annoying to make one click to return to sketchup if I need to do any modifications, is like making a click to go from model space to layout pages on AutoCAD.
The problem with Autocad is that a lot of people learned a lot of years ago, before the implementation of layout, so they get used to make all the drawings or models and documentation on the model space, when it should be done on the layout space. Autocad is bloated with tools that no one uses anymore, the dimensions, text, titles and everything that isn’t visible on the final product don’t have to be done on the model space, a lot of people still works that way cause either they learned to use the program 40 years ago or someone who learned 40 years ago taught to newer generations the way they learned and this method has been transmitted for years. Is the same with sketchup and Layout, on sketchup you don’t have to put the dimensions and text, those tools are there just for quick checking, for dimensions you have to use layout, there you have a lot more control over them you have even angular dimensions, you can control the weights and colors of the dimensions lines as well as the text height among other settings, you can even make drawings with any scale you want, even add your own scales if there’s on the preset list of scales, it’s very easy to change the color of the lines you draw on layout and all the lines you draw are poly lines.
It’s way easier to learn how to use sketchup and layout properly than making sketchup work like Autocad v10
Viewports still shift when changing camera angles (when they do not exhibit this behaviour in 2022). This bug has been around since 2023 and has still not been addressed. Also, try flipping a left hand label and watch it break apart. So disappointing that the dev team has taken Sketchup and layout in this direction where changes are made without reason or warning to they way things work.
