Sketchup 2025 - d5 render livesync

Hello, I ve been using sketchup since version 3 but I’m a new user of D5 (and I really like it,) but I have some questions. I’m using SketchUp with LiveSync for D5, but I haven’t fully understood how it works…

Let’s suppose I have an architectural project in SketchUp. I start LiveSync in D5, I apply my materials and lights until I’m happy with the result, and then I close the programs.

When I reopen SketchUp, all the settings in D5 are gone…

And if I need to make changes to the SketchUp geometry? Do I have to redo everything from scratch (lights, materials in D5)? OMG

From what I saw, I can export a D5A file from SketchUp, but then I lose the connection with the geometry…

Can someone please clarify the best workflow?

thank you!

Hello, I do not use d5 Render although I tried it, but if it works like others rendering programs that a have a livesync function, you may just have to save your project inside D5, saving your sketchup model obviously won’t be enough to save what you have done in D5.
If you don’t save your d5 project, reopening your model in sketchup and livesync-ing it once more will definitely start over from scratch

see tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpRr70m5-us&t=292s

Also, according to D5 forum, exporting to d5a should’nt prevent you from losing the connection, that you can restore by hitting the plugin start button in sketchup

thank you mr paul.millet !
I will give it a go !

Don’t forget to open your saved project in d5 first before re-syncing !
