It could be a language thing, but is changing the size of something not basically the same as scaling?
I didnât âwhack you into trying to get something for freeâ. You first two sentences implied you thought you had to pay to be a member.
I only addressed that and tried to answer your questions.
I also found that you were already a non-paying member and have been since 2016. And I see you opted to become a premium member the other day.
At least to me, scaling implies some sort of proportional change like the Scale tool does. Using the Move tool to change a dimension doesnât need to result in a proportional change to the geometry.
I just wanted to mention that it is possible to do with the move tool.
Most extensions perform tasks that can be done manually but fasterâŚ
I replied to a similar question here.
Yes. I didnât say I wasnât a free member. Thatâs how I got Fredo Scale on a trial basis and knew it did what I needed. Whatever the misunderstanding over my wording, this got very frustrating (and not with you in particular) Iâm trying to make nice here.
No Mas - please.
I see what you mean now, the move tool indeed doesnât do thatâŚ
Do you speak Spanish?
No spanish to speak of (sadly). A reference to Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard (not that I am a big boxing fan either). Showing my age perhaps.
See my YouTube video on my channel Christopher A Krupp . Architect for a video called Move tool versus the Scale tool for a clear explanation.
Thanks Cakrupp,
I watched the video and I do understand how the move/scale tools can work. I got the Fredo package and in fact had tried it out last summer on a 30 day trial and knew it would do what I needed. My initial question was really about what a premium SketchUcation subscription was all about and not so much a âhow toâ.
The attached images are included to show what I needed to do (and have done) given the way the frames, sash, etc are modeled. And, yes, I am a crazy person with the details.
Thanks again!
See this Page at Sketucation.
Hopefully, thereâs an unlocked back door in the looney bin, cause youâll need it. (you are most definitely insane).
It, as it should, appears that you likely have many âlayersâ (nested) groups/components in your models.
Donât know if Fredoâs extension allows you to edit all of them with a single âmoveâ or not. For your sake, I hope so, otherwise, youâll be repeating your âstretchesâ over and over for all the various parts.
I think Iâd explode the finished window (keeping a non-exploded original) and make it a single group so selecting vertical or horizontal elements as associated entities via a selection window would be easy. I usually make a single window of 1â x 1â size, then make numerous copies and stretch them out to the various sizes you want/need, essentially making a library of generic windows.
I find that the detail you have put into your windows will be lost within a large model and will just weigh down the whole thing.
Unless youâre a window mfgr, that amount of detail is not required. Mine are probably only about 5% of yours; a frame, a sash and glass.(mullions if reqâd) end of story.
Great drawings though. And I thought I was a detail guy!!!
Chris
This does look like a good tool that might have worked just as well. Next time.Thanks.
