What is the difference between these two?
Because sketchUcation has a lot of old plugins that aren’t structured as extensions, they have one window to deal with simple plugins (usually just a .rb file) and another to deal with extensions. There are different techniques to disable the two types.
I was wondering that too and never got around to ask.
The SketchUcation tools’ Extensions Manager is effectively the native Extension Manager, in that it lets you switch Extensions on and off. It has effectively been replaced by the newer native tool…
But not all Plugins are Extensions - as explained, they can be simple RB files, the Plugins Manager also allows you to load/unload and temporarily load these for that session.
You can also stop an Extensions RB file loading so it’s not on the Extensions Manager list…
If you look at the Plugins Manager’s dialog you’ll see there are some shaded gray items - these show that those extensions are disabled, even when their RB files are loaded…
The other advantage of these Manager dialogs is the ‘Sets’ which let you have collections of plugins/extensions loading [or not] which is a useful way of reducing menu/toolbar clutter and better customizing your SketchUp interface…
There are some some updates to the SCF site, its ExtensionStore³ dialog and Managers in the pipeline and these will be announced in due course… Watch this space…
