Skalp for SketchUp 2026 — Moving Forward
SketchUp 2026 is here, and we’d like to share a clear update on Skalp for SketchUp 2026.
Skalp is very much alive — and deeply embedded in real architectural practice. Developed by architects, for architects, Skalp continues to be an essential part of our own daily production workflows. It is not a side project we “maintain”; it is a tool we actively depend on.
With the release of SketchUp 2026, Trimble introduced internal changes — most notably in the way Undo interacts with Scenes. These changes affect fundamental mechanisms Skalp relies on and require careful re-engineering to meet our standards of reliability and precision.
Our roadmap
-
A Skalp 2026 compatibility release is planned for January 1st, 2026.
This release is focused purely on full compatibility with SketchUp 2026, ensuring Skalp continues to work exactly as expected, without functional compromises.
-
In parallel, we are working on a next-generation version of Skalp.
This complete rewrite will deliver:
-
noticeably higher performance
-
increased stability in large and complex models
-
deeper alignment with modern SketchUp internals
-
and a set of new and improved features designed to further streamline professional workflows
-
We expect this new version of Skalp to be released in the first half of 2026.
For all users with an active maintenance plan, the new generation of Skalp will be available at no additional cost.
Skalp remains a long-term product, built with the same care and pragmatism we apply to our own architectural work.
More news will follow soon.
