Amazing what tight little spaces a lot of people make their work happen in.

I think that is the beauty of this type of work. My office is 8’X13’ and 75% of that space is for musical instruments…unfortunately collecting dust!

Caught me Playing “World of Tanks” but here goes :-

Dell 27" 2560x1600 Monitor… getting old
4k Samsung TV – have three of them for staff
Samsung S4 Tablet constant companion
Sony Laser Projector - used for full scale projection of sign designs
Wacom - Tablet
Quest 2 VR Headset
UP Mini 2 3d Printer - out of view

Just rearranged my work area… decided to get a spare 4k samsung TV added…
Spent a day mucking around with cables, drivers, TV manuals etc sorting it out =, painful exercise in Windows 10 with its flaky Display Settings controls…

What’s the grey thing in the center front?

Sony mini Laser Projector – I plug it into my phone and project images onto walls, etc from my phone… use it prototype signs on site or in the office at full size and position… (bluetooth connection) [for visual impact and readability assessment]… probably be superseded by AR when it becomes more accessible.

I will try and set up a photo in action…

My office setup, and my boat office setup. I love my Spacemouse Enterprise Kit peripherals. The boat office has a USB portable monitor.

Couldn’t resist… Old pic of my set up in my “office” on a private museum project I worked on. Job was the reason I started using SketchUp. Think I was about a year into my SU journey at the time of the photo. Started with the MacBook Pro, bought the iMac after cooking multiple motherboards on the MacBook. Would render on the iMac and model on the MacBook. Maybe a good example how not to set things up !

I’m guessing you’re left handed?

Robert, yes I’m a lefty. Kind of funny looking back on this. Was learning SketchUp, Twilight render, Gimp and HighDesign a 2D cad program all at the same time. Set up evolved over time as my computer skills developed. Had done very little with computers prior to that job…

Not the best quality but don’t have 3 hands :(…

So the phone has the image… it uses screen casting to cast to the laser projector… which projects on the wall… either moving the projector or zooming the image on the phone to scale the image correctly… advantage is it is very compact , easy to manipulate and everyone can review the image… downsize is brightness is a challenge for these mini projectors… that Sony is about 5 years old now… they may be more powerful… also of course… anything you see on your scrreen on your phone or tablet can be projected on any surface… eg architectural details, sketchup models…

Mine is just one big mess where junk from one side eventually trades place with junk from the other.

10 peripherals in total, not counting toes and other stuff. Bad habit of sometimes working in sofa.

Do like your screenwiper  :+1:

This is an essential if you have an unreliable mains power supply. My mains power occasionally throws an electronic fuse. With the riello ups my computer powers down without losing data and without damage. Obviously doesn’t have to be the riello, anything similar will do.

My monitor setup is nothing special, merely one on top of the other because it’s easier to glance up than turn my head, as the second monitor is mostly background tasks that don’t need my full attention. As for my mouse and keyboard, you want a Razer with a dozen buttons? You got a Razer with a dozen buttons.

I’m not technically left-handed, but I’m as dexterous with a mouse in either hand, so I leave it to the left while my right is then perfectly aligned with the keypad for entering dimensions, and that leaves home row centered. This has been my work setup for the past 6 years. My home setup isn’t too different in the overall layout, only I don’t have a lefty Naga but a far better keyboard.

A few months ago, a former coworker left me a 3DConnexion SpaceMouse Pro. It’s taken some getting used to, but it definitely turns heads when we have tours.

Minor update: This is the newish mobile setup, now that Sketchup has come to the iPad. I haven’t had the chance to take it for a proper test drive, so I’ve just set it up on a TV tray for display purposes (please also pardon the cat fur on the couch). The iPad is the 10.5 Pro which goes with me almost everywhere.

For the life of me, I cannot get used to Pencil controls in the iPad app, so I rock a LoFree Maus, which has lovely buttons and possibly the worst scroll wheel ever. The keyboard is a Nimbleback LK-301 from LTC, which I don’t believe is available anymore. If you’re looking for a portable mechanical keyboard, you can do a lot better anyway.

I can’t live without this fat mouse. Kensington vertical Trackball. My wrist never hurts (anymore). I take it with my laptop to client meetings as well. Has several customizable buttons to speed up work flow. I should be an ambassador. Hey Kinsington, how about some swag!!
