Shape Bender is not working for Pro2023

Hi, I’m running into a problem while using Shape Bender. When I downloaded the extension from the warehouse it warned me that it’s not compatible for my version, but I downloaded anyway. However, when I tried to use it, it will not even select the straight line. I will attach some images just so you guys know what I’m talking about. Please help! It’s an urgent project that needed to be done as soon as possible.
Much appreciated!

Red arrow indicate when I tried to click the line after I activate the shape bender. The line was not able to select.

Let me know if you need more information. Unfortunately my file is too large to upload here so anything else will be able to provide.

Upload it to DropBox and share the link.

Shape Bender does work in SketchUp 2023 if you have set up the model correctly.

Hi! Thanks so much for the fast respond!

Here’s the link

You haven’t set the model up correctly at all. You have the line inside the component. It should be outside. And you have the curve grouped. It needs to be ungrouped like the straight line. You also have two instances of the stair component sharing the same space. I’ve separate them for the screen shot.

Remove the straight line from the stair component and place it outside. Explode the curve group. Then Shape Bender will work as designed.

BTW, here’s why your file is too large to upload.

Purging all the unused stuff from the file reduced the file size to 229 Kb. A file size reduction of 99.8%.

Oh wow! Thank you! This is actually really helpful! I have no idea got so many duplicated junks.

You might mark my previous post as the solution so others who come along will understand that Shape Bender does indeed work in SketchUp 2023.

Also do you have any ideas how it ended up with two instances?

No. I expect you made a copy in place.

the line that’s on the red axis shouldn’t be grouped with the stairs? and it should be own separate line that create outside the stairs, correct?

Correct. The line must be outside of the component. Also it needs to be parallel to the red axis but need not lie directly on it.

It works! Thanks again.

Looking at the components count makes me wonder if the file where you are working had something on it and you deleted it. When you delete a component from the viewport sketchup keeps a copy of it on the model, to delete it completely you must go to the components tray and delete it from there as well, or the easiest way is to go to the model information menu and purge your file, it’s better that way cause not only the components that are not being used will be deleted, also materials and styles.

I have the same problem of the topic.

Many easy models for testing… line on red axes below… but always the same error.
I dont have the “button” - only the dropdown to take the option. Its horrible, I need this tool!

I tried to install from warehouse, from sketchucation - with the same result.

I drew a line - copy twice - close for a rectangle and pushpull it.

click

But i can click everywhere necxt to the line - no funktion.

What do I wrong?

If you have changed the axes at some point your line might look parallel to the visible red-axis but it might not be parallel to the model’s red-axis.
To check this, hover over an axis and right-click > context-menu and Reset.
Adjust your geometry to suit the true axes and retry using the tool…

As previously explained the group/component to bend does not contain the line or the curve, these must be outside of the object you want to bend…

Share the .skp file so we can see exactly what you have set up.

The toolbar button is listed as Shape Bender in View>Toolbars.

And it works fine if you are using it correctly. The following is in SketchUp 2024.

I think that was the problem bcz i changed many times the BKS. Shown was red, but wasnt the “WORLD BKS” . I took a new skp and only tried the function - and it works  so happy
