In earlier version of sketchup it is possible to select shadows use sun for shading On Faces, On Ground and From Edges. Where are these settings located in version 2018?
In the Shadows window which is commonly found in the Default tray.
If you don’t see those settings in the Shadows window, click on the button below the X in the upper right corner of the window.
