Hi there, I’m working on making a bedroom but first I just wanted to point something out: I downloaded some book models from the warehouse and I had a laugh about how all the books are architecture-related
Anyhow, I downloaded some basic models to fill up the room and I noticed how some models don’t conform to the scene style I selected. I’m going for a look with all of the outlines present, but I noticed that some of the models don’t have the edges even though I set the edges to ‘on’ in the styles menu. Why is that, and how do I fix it?
You will need to upload the model in question to be sure, or provide a link to its warehouse location. Best guess is the model you download has the edges hidden. Setting a style without edges is a global choice; but hiding or softening-smoothing individual edges or batches of edges are different tools and those will stay hidden unless they are unhidden manually.
My guess is the edges were softened / hidden in the component you downloaded. You’ll have to edit the component to make them visible… but… just a guess here - like most anything on the warehouse this probable means that the objects were created in other software and softened or hidden because there are a gazillion surfaces.
As long as the edges are hidden they wouldn’t show.
You’re welcome.
FWIW, the general wisdom regarding using objects from the 3D Warehouse is to download them into a separate SketchUp session so you can examine them for suitablity and clean them up if needed. Don’t add them to your project until you have sorted them out.
