RfE: Developer License

Providing a SUP Developers license (similar to the instructor license) for accredited developers allowed to be used for development purposes only.

Dependend on the usage for a development of free extensions only the Developers license could be available for free or a small fee.

Do you mean like a list of verified developers?

are there not already registered SU Developers?

Having them listed somewhere wouldn’t harm too.

Hi,
I’m currently working on an extension (I did so already a few years ago), and since I do use SketchUp only for development purposes (I do not create content) I wonder if there exists the possibility to receive a sort of “developer” license, either free or even paid eventually, that would allow me, as a developer, to test the extension on any suitable SketchUp version and keep developing/maintaining it for a mid/long term.

Thanks.
Alessandro

You should be able to develop you extension in an older version, then simply test it in the newer version. Most times extensions will work fine in the next version of SketchUp without any changes. Unless you are using some undocumented functionality you shouldn’t need to worry too much.

Do you want to submit that as a request? I do know of solutions that could work, but someone else would need to give me permission to do one of those solutions.

Write in on the contact page, mention the extensions you make, and what versions of SketchUp you want to test on. It may come to nothing, but it’s worth asking. You can mention my name in the message, so that my colleagues will send it my way.

Hi Colin,
thank you for your suggestion and accept my apologies for coming back this late. Do you mean that I should write to the Contact Support address or something else?

Thanks again.
Alessandro
