Resizing scenes inside clipping masks not working correctly

I’ve recently upgraded to Layout 2025 and notice that when opening a clipping mask containing a sketchup scene, the clipping mask closes as soon as I try to modify (resize) the sketchup scene using some handles. The process goes:

  1. double-click a clipping mask containing a scene to open it up
  2. select the scene
  3. try to click & drag a lower corner resizing handle of the scene frame, and the mask immediately closes
I note that you can move the scene ok by dragging anywhere inside its frame.
Also the top-left corner handle and the top mid-handle appear to work correctly, but the other 6 handles around the frame do not.
If I need to use the other handles, my current workaround is to remove the mask, resize the scene, then recreate the mask. This is however inefficient.

EDIT: you will notice in the video that some handles work and some do not. This appears to change randomly.

Hi @mark12,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It looks like this is a regression in behavior caused by the interaction of clip mask editing and changes we made to the scale behavior.

We gave scaling a larger boundary around a selected entity’s bounds to start a scale operation. However, it looks like actually starting a scale from outside the entity bounds kicks you out of clip mask editing first. If you start more precisely on the entity bounds you still scale as expected. This would explain why some handles seem to work and some do not, and why it appears to change randomly.

Needless to say, this is something we will fix in a future release.

Sorry for the inconvenience,
Adam

Ok thanks adam. At least it’s good to know it’s not just my computer. I look forward to the resolution in the next issue.
