Re loading very old copy old sketchup pro on a newer laptop

Hello!
First time poster
Hoping some smart person here can help me

Longtime occasional user of sketchup(since 2007)for personal drawing(worked with ACAD, Inventor and REVIT professionally). Own a perpetual license for sketchup pro 2016
Have long had Sketchup pro 2015 on one very old pc and one almost as old laptop, which worked fine for the occasional 3d problem solve, even have a licensed copy of v-ray to go with it. Never had any reason to upgrade, almost more trouble because of the need to upgrade v-ray

Finally moving to a new machine(an inherited brand new laptop that is about 2yrs old)
Have the installation file for 2015 pro, but couldn’t get an authcode that works from Trimble work because I guess at some point my license upgraded to 2016 automatically.

Searched through my archive and found a .EXE installer, but its for SketchUp Make 2016.Program installs fine but it wont take the authcode either.

I suspect the issue is either I have two many seats(2 total)installed or the SketchupMake isn’t the right program to receive the code

I know Trimble doesn’t serve the older versions( the Pro Support people were perfectly helpful and polite!)
Is there a safe place to download a .exe of sketchuppro 2016 to try with my authcode?

I am very hesitant to remove the 2015 pro version from either old machine either until I know I can at least get something working on the newer one.

Moving into a phase of semi retirement, cant really justify investing in new software at this point. More just want to know that I have access to my perpetual license in case I need it for something

Any ideas to solve would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help!
Patrick

Anyone?
Was hoping someone would have a fix for this…

@PRICCHETTI :

try here: Download-Center – SketchUp 3D Modellierer

Hello, note that if your licence automatically was upgraded (it was the case when your maintenance plan was still active and a new version came out), the serial number also changed, and you should have received a mail with the new one.

2015 version serials started with QA- and 2016 version RA-

You can perfectly keep your 2015 version and the old machine and install the 2016 version on the new one, so don’t uninstall it

Thanks, unfortunately the download links weren’t still viable

Thank you!
I have the serial correct number and the authorization code for the 2016 pro version(Trimble sent it to me), after I enter it nothing happens when I click ADD LICENSE. So not sure if its because the .exe says Sketchup Make on it and the codes aren’t sinking or some other reason? I tried moving the whole 2016 program from another computer ( says its in Make version on that computer), when I open it the banner says its Sketchup Pro and its in trial version, so I think maybe back then the version you had was dependent on the serial number you put in.

Wondering if its a window 11 thing? The .exe is a 64 bit version but maybe its too old for a more modern computer. I’ve tried the opening in a earlier version strategy but that didn’t work either.

Another community member sent me link for downloading another copy of 2016 pro but it wasn’t active nay longer

Maybe when the pro trial expires it will default to the MAKE version, Which I guess would be ok, I just wouldn’t have Scenes and autocad import and maybe some other functionality etc.

Still wish I could get Trimble to give me the authcode for my 2015 pro version too, but i guess they have a business to run

thanks again if you have any other ideas

I tried again, still wont let me download the 2016 version. oddly enough i can download the 2015 and the 2017. Aargh!

Yes, I have SketchUp Make 2017 and if I would have a Pro 2017 serial number, it would revert to SketchUp Pro 2017…

I have Windows 11 on my laptop and Make 2017 works flawless.

In fact, there are people here on the forum who run copies of SketchUp back to version 8 (or maybe even older ones) . Not sure if they run that on windows 11 though…

Scenes are available in Make!
Import is indeed restricted (no .DXF and .DWG and some others)
Also you wouldn’t have the native Solid tools. (I use BoolTools2, they work in Make…)
And no Layout and Style Builder…

Sometimes @colin is able to help with cases like this.
I pinged him for you, but it may take some time since it’s weekend…

Thanks. I really appreciate that!
