Seems like there’s a big interest for a Mac version. I had more people reach out via other channels as well to ask for a Mac version.
@db11 What do you mean by a low-maintenance alternative? It’s a term I’m not familiar with.
Regards,
Thomas

How much will it cost? Twilight was a very cheap rendering engine, but the quality of the renders wasn’t the best, it could make decent renders though.
Hey,
The pricing is not fixed yet. It will be around $200 for a perpetual license; the license will be sold via SketchUcation with a nice discount for SketchUcation premium members.
I plan to do a juicy promotion for early adopters in one of the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Thomas
By that I mean something that is a reasonable cost, doesn’t force subscription and is easy to use (all the things that Twilight was).
Thanks for clarifying. That’s the goal with Rayscaper, and I hope users will keep us honest if we are deviating from that direction.
We put out version 0.8.5 today with a couple of bug fixes. You can find the release post on SketchUcation.
Same here, although twilight render still works, would be nice to find an affordable alternative in case it stops working.
Just curious… How do you position your rendering solution? As there are already so many out there… Do you see room for yours? Tx, Orlando
Hey @orlando
Rayscaper is a render engine for hobbyists and professionals who have to create occasional renderings but don’t have the time or urge to learn more advanced engines or don’t want to spend the money.
What Rayscaper offers:
Rayscaper is not for users who spend the whole day rendering things. Rayscaper won’t offer some of the advanced features other engines offer. They might be better suited with engines like V-Ray, Maxwell, Octane, etc.
Of course, there are a lot of render engines, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all. There’s a wide range of pricing options and feature depth. Also, with the sunset of twilight, I think there’s an opportunity for another affordable solution.
I’m not going head-to-head with the big guns. I plan to carve out a niche for those who perfectly fit the Rayscaper glove.
Cheers,
Thomas
I do agree with this!
At this moment i stil use twilight render for my occasional renderings for which i have a lifetime license for €100!
Unfortunately they discontinued their services this year, but their rendering tool still works … untill it doesn’t.
And since i do not render that often, i do not want to spend 30, 40, 60, or more, each month(!!!) for a rendering tool i use just a couple of times per year.
The (free) AI rendering is fun, but it is not the way i preffer to render my models.
Butt in case my twilight render tool stops working, or if the price is right (yes i am dutch
), i am interested in the development of this Rayscaper rendering tool.
We plan to bring something affordable, even for the Dutch people. ![]()
Rayscaper 0.8.6 Alpha is out. Now, with support for hide/unhide of geometry, objects, and tags. You can find the full release post on SketchUcation.
would love to try it
Cheers! You can download it from SketchUcation: Rayscaper | SketchUcation - Remember it’s still alpha software.
Не устанавливается на версию Sketchup 23
Hey there, I think the translation is:
Does not install on Sketchup version 23
Do you mind sending me the error you are seeing or some more information so I can help you?
Thanks,
Thomas
Спасибо что откликнулись! при установке через менеджер расширений при установке не что не происходит и не чего не появляется, после перезапуска программы выдает вот такое сообщение:

и тоже самое на Sketchup 2022
Can you send me the log file via a private message or email to help@rayscaper.com. The instructions on how to get that log file are here (I’m sorry only in English right now): Report a Bug - Rayscaper Documentation (item 5).
Will give it a shot next week. And hopefully make a tutorial once I figure out the nitty gritties. Hope that’s fine.
Hey @sketchupguru!
Having the first tutorial would great! Its still rough around the edges so don’t hesitate to reach out if you run into issues, have questions or want to provide feedback.
Cheers,
Thomas
