Raster image to a 3d model terrain

Hello, this is my first post here and english is not my primary language so excuse me if i miswrite things.
I have a raster png image that i need to convert somehow to a 3d model or mesh of the terrain i need and i have no clue how to do it. I know i need some intermediary software but still i dont know how. My main goal is to create roads on that 3d terrain. Also the data i have in that raster image is way more accurate and detailed with reality than the data from the built-in tool in sketchup so i cant use that.

You have a png image with elevation data in it? Can you post the image so we can see what you are talking about?

Hi. Can you share your raster image so we know better what you’re starting with?

One way to automate the process is to use this great extension called ‘bitmap to mesh’. The terrain image needs to be a ‘height map’. This is another great resource for finding height maps - Tangram Heightmapper. Let me know if you need help.

here is the image

i will try that extension, and the data i have is from tagram heightmapper also.

Just a tip - reduce the file size so that it doesn’t take so long importing. By size I man image resolution. Try 500px wide first to see if it works and if it’s not detailed enough you can try increasing from there.

thank you a lot, the extension seems to work
