Purge specific types of data

While the purge option is valuable, it would be nice if we had the option to choose what is gettin gpurged rather than simply everything that is not used.

For example, I would often like to purge materials/textures but would like to keep styles and tags that aren’t yet used.

Thx

That is a good feature request. In the meantime you can use TIG’s Purge All from Sketchucation to do exactly what you want.

ThomThom’s CleanUp 3 is the one I use, it can also delete stray edges.

You can do that from the materials tray already. I’m assuming that is available in the mac pallets.

You can purge things individually from their corresponding tray.

Materials
Components
Tags
Styles
Environments

They all have their own purge unused option

But unless you do it in the correct order somethings might get left behind.
e.g. Purging unused materials will not remove any materials attached to geometry in an unused component definition, as the materials are technically ‘in use’.
But if you purge the component definitions first, then the now unused materials can be purged subsequently.
Same for Tags.
The best purging order to ensure absolutely everything that’s unused goes is:

Components
Materials
Tags
Styles
Environments

The last two not being linked to other things…

Well look at that! I hope this was a recent update and that I couldn’t have been doing this the whole time…

Thanks!

It’s been around for many versions.
Note the order of purging to maximize the cleaning…

No. It’s not a recent update. You’ve always been able to purge individually from their corresponding inspector windows. SketchUp 3.1:
