Hi All, I built an assembly in profile builder, but the ‘0,0’ point where I started is no longer where I want it to start, as I had to add a few things, but I don’t know how to get the assembly to start building from the new edge and not the old. Do I have to go in an change each placement point of the all of the components and profiles? Or is there an easier way? Help much appreciated.
Hi Joanne,
If the assembly is made up of simple profiles and components (no spans), you can use the Auto-assemble feature to do most of the work for you:
- Draw your existing assembly along the red axis starting at the origin
- Explode the assembly
- Select all exploded profile groups and components and reposition using the SketchUp move tool so that the red-axis represents the new placement point location of the assembly
- With all of the objects still selected, click the auto-assemble button
- You will have to rename the assembly parts but it should do the trick

Oh my goodness, that is so helpful. I don’t know how I didn’t notice the auto-assemble option. Thank-you very very much! This makes all future assemblies so much easier.
