This was just a thought, though I expect I should just improve my templates instead. Do see attached screenshot (top right area), it might be handy to have a button for creating new tags, after entities are selected.

@dezmo has an extension called Add Tag Layer to Selected Comps by Def Name. Select the entity in model space, it is in the right click menu.
A forum search will provide a link to download it.
