Not seeing 'old' materials in cube view

Hi, I’ve just installed 2025 and noticed some of the ‘old’ shipped materials are not showing as the new cube…just flat squares with no material/texture. See screenshot. This is for Landscape, fencing, vegetation. Are there ‘new’ landscaping photorealistic materials? Help!

I think they’ve removed “Landscape, fencing and vegetation” completely, or it’s not in my Windows installation anyway. There’s now a separate folder called “Ground”, but no fencing

If you need those old materials, there’s another post in the forum about copying the old materials and textures from 2024 to 2025.

Failing that you can search in the warehouse for materials, new and old.

I will try to find out how to get to the old material collections quickly in 3D Warehouse. Meanwhile, I did make this model as a way to get at all of the old materials:

If you want to use them as flat colors, without any of the new enhancements, before opening the model go into preferences, graphics, and make sure the two automatically enhance materials options are not selected.

Maybe it is not the best way but I simply opened the Materials folder in a previous installation of SketchUp and added them to the Materials of SU 2025.

This is on Mac OS Ventura 13.7.1 running on a MacBook Pro 2017.

There is a post somewhere else where someone had troubles with that. Not sure what the issue was. Also, some people may be new to 2025, for example, coming from web or iPad, and not have an earlier version installed.

I did find the 3D Warehouse link for the old materials.

Here is where the old textures are in 3D Warehouse. They are uploaded as models, split by category. So, no advantage over my model, other than the files being a bit smaller.

Hi, yes I’m going to give that a go as well.

Thanks Colin, very much appreciated. I’ve not seen any landscaping materials in the new curated ones in the 3D warehouse. Really hope they start adding them!

Until they do add those materials you can edit the old ones and give them the needed properties. After editing, save them for future use.

This is the old Grass Dark Green materialafter I added maps for Roughness, Normal, and Ambient Occlusion.

I used a free online map creator. I exported the old Grass Dark Green texture out of SketchUp, dragged it into the map generator, and download the maps. I didn’t even bother to make any adjustments before downloading them. In SketchUp I just added the maps and again, didn’t make any adjustments to them.

I have made the suggestion that the old materials be added to Materials as well. While they are models there was a search issue, in that if you searched for “landscaping”, it would not find “landscaping_fencing”. We edited the names of three entries, and now they don’t have the underscore in the name.

Of course, my trick is for users of former versions of SU since the OP message let me guess that he has a former experience with the program.
