No back up file created

The settings in Sketchup say that there is an automatically created backup file every ten minutes.
It does not work like this - Only when I save the original fole by hand - the SKB file gets updated, can anyone advise how to fix this? I just lost a days work because of this.
thanks

You have misunderstood the way Autosave works. Autosave creates incremental saves in a special folder. These are only meant for recovery in case SketchUp crashes. When the application is closed normally, these temp files are deleted. SKP and SKB files are created and saved only when you save your model yourself.

as anssi says, they are two seperate things. In the preferences, general tab, you can see there also are two different lines, one for backup one fore auto-save. You’re mixing backup and autosave files up.

C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\SketchUp\SketchUp 2023\SketchUp\working\SKETCHUP\RecoveredFiles

paste this in an explorer window to reach the autosave location

Thank you for your reply, did not know that . I started working on th efile at th eoffice and finished it at home - logging in onto my office PC. I id nor save befor the connection was broken, so I hoped on a recovery file but could not find any.

Thank you Paul,

i followed this path - found the RF folder but it is empty. Does losing connection with my work PC ( i logged in from home) not count as a "crash"maybe?

no it does not count as a crash ! As anssi said too, saving your model will erase the autosave. But it will create a new backup file (.skb file, saved in the same location than the .Skp file) which will be the last saved state of your model

Thanks both Paul an Anssifor understanding better!
