I 'm having problems with the camera views. When I choose ‘Parallel Projection’, I often get problems where most of the model isn’t visible:
When I use ‘Perspective’, I can’t get close up to areas in the model because as I get closer, the faces and edges disappear:

Do a search on Clipping Planes. Much has been written already.
Parallel Projection is prone to clipping if you orbit.
It’s typically used for creating orthogonal views, not for general modeling.

You can also change your Field of View to zoom in (Zoom tool, type camera angle or focal length) without moving your camera nearer to the model.
