Moving a copy of an entity

I have posted before, but I phrased my question incorrectly.

I want to draw a circular shape… that will be extruded into a cylinder… and translate it on the same plane, at a 45degree angle to the original, but have it directly adjacent to the original.

What version of SketchUp are you actually using? Your forum profile indicates SketchUp for Web (Free Only) and SketchUp 2024 Desktop. There is no free only desktop version. The answer to your question depends on the tools you have available and that depends on the version.

It is the web-based free version.

Then it’s not 2024 Desktop. Please correct your forum profile.

Probably the easiest way to copy the circle and place it at 45° from the first one is to select the circle, find the vertex at the 45° point and use Rotate/Copy to make a copy rotated 180°.

If you must use the Move tool, grab the circle at the 45° vertex top right and move the copy to the 45° vertex bottom left.

Thank you DaveR. Now that I can confidently do that can I ask you another question?

Yes. Please fix your forum profile.

What needs fixing?

You aren’t using the 2024 Desktop version of SketchUp.

What is your other question or was that it?

I changed the SketchUp Version in the profile.

My other question is. With the web version is there the ability to set the view perpendicular to the X-Y axis?

Thank you. That makes it easier for us to help you when it’s correct. When it isn’t correct it just makes it harder for you to get the right answers.

Yes. In the Scenes panel set the Camera to Parallel Projection and set the Standard View to Plan View.

Thank you again DaveR. I will go forward for now.
