I have started building a project with the Nick Sonder templates and following the work flow from the book. Something curious is going on. I am drawing on Layer 0. Then I make groups of individual sets i.e. a wall, a floor etc. then I put things on appropriate layers OB_WALLS, OB_FLOORS. When I select an object to edit, it is the only thing in view and I have no other reference objects to work to. In the past all other objects just became a lighter shade.

See menu View > Component Edit > uncheck “Hide Rest Of Model”
