Model a funnel (kind of) from pointcloud, need help with best workflow

Hi forum!

Im trying to model this funnel or whatever the word for it would be :joy:. Hoping that maybe anyone that is used to model complex models and used to work with scan essentials can show me how they would model this one. It dont have to be exactly like the piontcloud but the bolts and their angels need to fit. If anyone wants to try model it and show me how the best way is so please do, here is the pointcloud file for download Funnel pointcloud

I manually draw lines on the pointcloud and used the surface from contour tool but that dont give me any control at all over the model.

Have a nice evening everyone

I’m not the best person to do this, but as a general strategy, I try to see the primitive forms within the object, model them as separate chunks, and then use either solid tools or Intersect Selection with… to have SketchUp do the math for them to come together. Surface from contour is quick and messy as you can see. Maybe someone else knows better lofting tools, like maybe @mihai.s

Using CloudCompare

Imported in Blender as OBJ

Remesh

Imported in SketchUp

or just using Scan Essentials

Thanks! Nice workflow

In the last picture, are ju just using scan essentials? It dont do the whole mesh for me when i tried it.

It is useful to give details about which settings you used and how the generated model looks like. What is the size of a grid cell? I used 2 cm for the model you see in the image.
