Moasure - useful?

Anyone in the forums familiar with Moasure? Have you used it? Is the exported product useful? inquiring minds want to know before purchasing something just to have it relegated to technical junk pile . .

I like rocket science ( and brain surgery)

Haven’t used this one, though.
Took some spins with Measure.

This is kind of an old post. However, I found this post while trying to make sense of moasure 2 data imported as dwg file. The data from moasure device seemed good, however my site is quite complicated and was hard to measure. Eventually I succeeded in getting the data I needed including elevations and locations of various buildings and well and driveway, etc. I verified some of the measurements with an old school tape and they seemed to be fairly accurate (usable).

The problem for me now is taking the imported data and using it to create a site development plan for my county building department. There is a bunch of data that needs to be cleaned up and I have not found any reasonable information on doing this without paying a lot of money for some training. Anyhoo…like moasure and the data it produces. It takes some practice to get reasonably accurate data, and importing the data into sketchup was easy. The problem is now how to efficiently deal with the data. I seem to be missing something. It is possible that I just do not know enough about sketchup pro!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Tried Moasure for the first time recently and think I’ll return the device. Know it takes practice but it didn’t feel that great of an experience. Friends in the industry have given mixed reviews. I’m currently trying the Landshape extension from Holygon which seems really amazing for topography, but haven’t figured out the flow from Moasure data just yet.

I trained a guy recently who was also using Moasure in 2d with autocad. He checked what Moasure could output, 2d, coordinates, I showed him Toposhaper to make a terrain from guide points, and I know he was looking at a plugin to convert a table file into a cloud of guide points.

haven’t heard from him again, but as far as I know, if he found the right XYZ converter, plus toposhaper, he must be golden.

different scale I think.

He showed me the plans moasure could do from 15-20 min on site, a small garden, in order to implant a pergola. it was fine. idk if on a big plot or a big terrain it would be as good.
I think Landshape for that scale of project might be overkill ?

yes great points! (no pun intended) but Moasure points sent to Toposhaper seems pretty nice, I’ll try that.

Landshape seems super fun, but worried it might be over powered for my residential sized landscape projects.
