Make all layered SketchUp models on a page snap-able for tools

Hi,

currently (as of LayOut v25 on Mac) layered SketchUp models of the same SketchUp file will snap to tools (like Dimension) only if they are on the topmost level. If you try to draw a dimension from one model to another only the topmost model will snap to the tool. This is not intuitive.

It would be an interesting feature but when I stack or have multiple models I have multiple layers for each model… turn off one, detail the other, etc.

The issue is when you try to draw a dimension from one model to another.

The topmost model blocks all models in layers below from being snap-able.

I would find this helpful as well. I stack different views for the same model. I always put them on their own layer, but it would be nice if I didn’t have to. Maybe if there are multiple views stacked and you are dimensioning, a pop-up could appear that lets you select which model view to reference?

With SketchUp, you work in a 3D world.

It is normal for Objects to block other objects that are not visible because they are under or behind other objects.

Remember that you can Orbit, Pan, Zoom, change scene, change rendering mode in the middle of any operation, like dimensioning.

Use that procedure:

1 - Click on the first point for the dimension.

2 - Orbit, Pan, Zoom, choose a scene where the other object is visible to see the point where you want to end the dimension.

3 - Click on that point

Remember that you can also switch to X-Ray mode to see through objects that may block the view of the other object.

This is a LayOut feature request, Jean.

Yes, you are right. Sorry.
