Linux is getting momentum in the number of people installing it and use it instead of Windows.Offering support for Linux, may give Sketchup an advantage over other CAD software who do not support Linux and vise versa.

however, the linux community is filled with “amateur” devs who manage to do what trimble doesn’t want to.
